Khodad (Taluka Junnar): On the occasion of World Science Day, the 28th Science Exhibition has been organized at the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT), Asia’s renowned radio telescope project located at Khodad. The exhibition will be inaugurated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. by Dr. Kaushik Banerjee, Director of the National Research Centre for Grapes, Pune. The closing ceremony will be held on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the presence of Dr. Mahanand Mane, Associate Dean of the College of Agriculture, Pune.
This exhibition, which has been organized continuously for the past 24 years, has become an inspiring platform for the promotion of science. This year, several reputed institutions, schools, and engineering colleges are participating, with a special highlight being the participation of as many as 22 research institutions.
The exhibition offers a unique opportunity for science enthusiasts and will remain open to the public for two days — Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1. Organizers have appealed to students, parents, and science lovers to attend in large numbers and experience this celebration of science.
The exhibition will feature the history of radio astronomy, live demonstrations of scientific research, and presentations of scientific balloon launches and experiments conducted through the Balloon Facility from Hyderabad. According to the organizers, this initiative aims to cultivate scientific curiosity and inspire the younger generation towards research, making it a valuable learning experience for students, parents, and science enthusiasts alike.
